The Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, announced today the modernization of the La Paz Maintenance Workshop, aimed at improving the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the service of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro for users of Line A. Brugada emphasized that this update is a significant step forward in the commitment to improve transportation in the City.
In a press conference, Brugada stated that La Paz becomes the first Metro workshop fully capable of raising a train, which distinguishes it from other workshops in the City. She highlighted the importance of providing social justice through the attention to the lines that connect the population.
By modernizing the Line A workshop, it is expected that this route will become the main one in the transportation system. Additionally, it will serve as a vital transportation hub for the metropolis, considering the arrival of new projects such as the Cablebus and the elevated trolleybus.
The modernization works of the Line A Metro Maintenance Workshop, which benefit 260,000 daily users, represented a total investment of 247 million pesos and were carried out throughout the last year, finishing in January 2025. Improvements were made in various areas, including maintenance technology and staff training to ensure its proper functioning.
Clara Brugada emphasized that despite Line A being neglected, it is expected to become the nerve center of mobility in the metropolis. She announced a budget increase to support this line and improve the transportation system in general.
Important authorities were present at the event, such as the Secretary of Administration and Finance of Mexico City, Juan Pablo De Botton Falcón, and the Secretary of Mobility of Mexico City, Héctor Ulises García Nieto, along with the General Director of STC Metro.
